Against Cold When Hiking

Against Cold When Hiking
Climb towards Mahameru is not easy. In addition to the rugged terrain, the highest point on the island of Java, it has extremely cold temperatures. But, that does not mean the cold air can not be resisted. Compiled d'Traveler, Wednesday (23/01/2013), here's 6 ways against the cold while climbing towards Mahameru:

1. Bring warm clothes

The first, of course bring warm clothes. But, not just warm, bring extra warm clothes. Especially if you are planning to hike in the dry season. At that time, the air temperature is cooler than the peaks of the rainy season.

The most important is the jacket, gloves, and socks. Keep in mind, do not use denim pants, because it will be very heavy. Use trousers fabric that is thick, like cargo pants. Surely it would be better if you use a thick flannel shirt. All the equipment can help you sleep comfortably at night.

2. Bring a sleeping bag

Sleeping bag is one of the mandatory things that you should take time to climb Mount Semeru. If possible, bring the thickest. It's okay to be rather severe congenital, as long as your body can warm to the rest later.

There are various types of sleeping bags with cold endurance different. Learn from my experience that moment that brought a sleeping bag with a low cold resistance, cold consequently became friends at night. Very cold air above, even just leaf-covered ice in the morning.

3. Bring slayer

Hardtop or 4-wheel drive car that is commonly used for climbers to Ranu Pane usually roofless. At that time, a thick dust will interfere with breathing and your vision to see the sights. So, do not forget to bring slayer or cloth to cover the nose.

In addition, this fabric can also be used to cover the neck when cold air at the summit later. If not closed, super cold air can make our nose blackened know.

4. Set up a tent in the right area

Reflecting on my trip, you should set up a tent in a minimal wind. My mistake, tent set up in a very open place. There are no objects or plants that can protect us from the cold wind tent. So when setting up camp, look for a place that a lot of sturdy trees, bushes, or behind a large rock. This will reduce the cold temperatures at night.

5. Bring the oxygen tube

In addition to drugs, small oxygen cylinders are also required to bring. This is very important, because the difference in altitude cause oxygen levels decrease. Especially for those who suffer from asthma or other respiratory diseases. Especially in Mount Semeru are active toxic gases produced in Mahameru. Just bring a small oxygen tube, flexible, and lightweight taken everywhere.

6. Health certificate

Keep in mind, to be able to climb Mount Semeru, climbers are required to attach a health certificate from the health authority. Let me not to bother, check first health clinic near you at home before leaving. Attach the letter in the post licensing Ranu Pane. Hell you could climb Mount Semeru without paper work permit. But if it is missing, rescue teams are not responsible for finding you.

Hopefully 6 ways can help you conquer the cold during the ascent to the summit of Mount Semeru Mahameru. Remain cautious and safely climb!
